NFL Divisional Playoffs Preview: Los Angeles Rams vs Green Bay Packers
Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams soared past the Seattle Seahawks, with brilliant efforts from Rooking Running Back, Cam Akers, (131 Rushing yards, 1 TD) and the Rams defense (53 Total Tackles, 5 Sacks, 1 DEF TD) in their 30-20 Super Wild Card win. They move onto the NFC Divisional round, where they take on MVP Candidate, Aaron Rodgers, and the Green Bay Packers.

This game had everything you could have asked for in a Super Wild Card matchup. It started off with Backup Quarterback, John Wolford, getting hurt early on in the 1st quarter with a neck injury, and Jared Goff had to takeover with a broken thumb. Then, you had a rookie running back in Cam Akers explode for a franchise playoff record in rushing yards, and to top it all off, the Rams Defense held Russel Wilson under 200 passing yards. Unfortunately, it cost LA’s star, DT Aaron Donald, a torn rib cartilage as he was hit hard in the midsection and exited the game early on. A sigh of relief as he is reportedly “feeling no pain” (per NFL.com) and ready for today’s game vs Green Bay.

As for the Packers, they worked hard throughout the regular season and earned a first-round bye, and a well rested Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams is something that shouldn’t be played with. The QB-WR duo finished the season with a total of 115 receptions, 18 touchdowns, and almost 1,400 receiving yards. Every game felt like a regular day in the office for Rodgers in the Pack, and they look to have a similar field day against the Rams. But as dominant the Packers offense has been, the Rams defense are not phased by their season success. Players like Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Leonard Floyd are willing to put everything on the line and do whatever it takes to grab this win and clinch a berth into the NFC Championship.
Key Matchups
Jalen Ramsey vs Davante Adams
Ramsey has been nothing short of spectacular, outplaying wide receivers like Deandre Hopkins and, just last week, DK Metcalf. There is no way any receiving core can underestimate Jalen Ramsey’s ability to shut them down and force them absent from the game, but there is one man who is up for the challenge, and his name is Davante Adams. Even though he missed two games, Davante Adams led the league in Receiving yards and Touchdowns with at least 12 yards per catch, claiming the position of Aaron Rodgers’s favorite target. Grab the popcorn. This is a matchup you do not want to miss.
Rodgers/Jones vs Rams Defense
With the highest QBR (121.5), Aaron Rodgers has been letting it fly against all of his opponents with 4,299 passing yards into the season, while lighting up the scoreboard with 48 touchdowns to his receiving combo in Marquez Valdes-Scantling (Avg 20.2 YAC) and Davante Adams (Receiving Champion). But as much as Rodgers can throw, he is not the only Aaron that can grab a few scrimmage yards. Running Back, Aaron Jones, has conceived his second consecutive 1,000 rushing yard season (1,104 in 2020) and accumulated nine touchdowns. As much of a problem the two Aarons of Green Bay might day, they’re going to need a solution to their problem as they prepare to face off against one of the best pass and rush defenses in the NFL.
Final thoughts
As shocking as Seattle’s defeat against the Rams was, this matchup for an NFC Championship spot will leave jaws dropped to the floor, or so we hope. Regardless, this seems to be the year of the Aarons, and it is the perfect time for Aaron Rodgers to bring back the Lombardi Trophy to Lambeau Field and give his teammates unlimited discount double checks for life. But, before the Packers do so, they have to get through the Rams first, and Aaron Donald won’t let it easily happen.
In conclusion, the NFL should call this divisional round the “Super Divisional Round” and let Aaron Rodgers sling it to Davante Adams for a few slime cannons on Nickelodeon. Who will do the sliming? Will it be the Green Bay Packers or the Los Angeles Rams? Find out at 1:35 PM Pst on FOX.
