After losing the previous El Trafico at home, LAFC definitely were seeking revenge at the diggity. Coming off of a 5-1 win against San Jose, Bob Bradley published the same Starting XI to spark up an offense-heavy first half, and the offense dominated the first half with numerous chances and opportunities, including an amazing run by Bradley Wright-Phillips that lead to a chip to the left of the woodwork, but were unable to convert as the finishing blunders continue for the Black and Gold. It remained scoreless at halftime, with LAFC leading the game in shots with 14 (7 SOG, 50%) to Galaxy’s one shot (not on target).
Right back for the second half, Christian Pavon receives a nice ball down his wing from Wingback Emiliano Insua. Pavon takes a touch and chips it over LAFC Goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega, who comes out of the goal carelessly. Pavon breaks the deadlock for the Galaxy in the 51st minute as insults to Injuries continue to happen in the following minute. A reckless challenge on Galaxy’s Julian Araujo from LAFC Captain and Midfielder, Mark Anthony-Kaye, gives referee Allen Chapman the chance to expel Kaye from the match, leaving the Black and Gold down a goal, and a man.
With a one man advantage, Carson responded with quality, quantity, and Sebastian Lletget. In the 73rd minute, Christian Pavon has a free kick opportunity from the right side of the 18-yard box. Galaxy attackers make a run for the front post as Pavon makes a nice firm pass around the PK spot, where a wide open Sebastian Lletget buries it for the 2-0 lead. Unfortunately, the misery is not over yet for LAFC as the defensive struggles continue. Later on in the 83rd minute, Rolf Feltscher gets a nice through ball from Efrain Alvarez. At the edge of the box, Fletcher sees a wide open Sebastian Lletget, sends a cross, and Lletget sets up a spectacular overhead kick that gets past Sisniega.
With that, Pavon’s one goal and assist, along with Lletget’s brace leads the Carson Galaxy past LAFC. LAFC travels to Salt Lake City this Wednesday, where they close out their Phase 1 road fare against Real Salt Lake.
