Breaking: Steve Cherundolo hired as LAFC's next coach
After weeks of eager anticipation, LAFC have announced former USMNT full-back and LV Lights manager, Steve Cherundolo, as Bob Bradley’s successor.
The hiring comes after Bradley was sacked in late November and hired by Toronto FC, where he is reunited with his son, Michael Bradley.
Cherundolo was a former member of the USMNT, representing the United States in the 02’, 06’ and 2010 World Cups. He has also spent the majority of his playing career in the German top flight, Bundesliga, where he spent 16 seasons with Hannover 96.
After retiring at the end of 2014, Steve Cherundolo began his coaching career as an assistant with the German Youth National Team (U-15), Hannover 96, and Stuttgart with the Bundesliga.
The Southern California native joins the Black and Gold from LAFC and USL affiliate, Las Vegas Lights, where he has managed the club to a 18.1% win percentage since his arrival in Early 2019.
As the monumental off-season continues, Cherundolo partners up with General Manager, John Thorrington, as they prepare to forge the rest of the roster for LAFC’s fifth season.
