MLS-Liga MX All-Star Game to be held in Los Angeles at BOCS in August
Major League Soccer Commissioner, Don Garber, announced today at a press conference in Los Angeles that the MLS/Liga MX All-Star game will be held in LA at the home of LAFC, the Banc of California Stadium. Garber was also joined by Liga MX President, Mikel Arriola, and Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, to make the big announcement. Thirteen months after its original announcement, North American soccer fans will get the chance to see the highly-anticipated MLS vs Liga MX All-Star game on August 25th.
The event will allow and are expecting to have fans attend at full-capacity, making it the first major event to welcome fans to full-capacity in the United States. “As a fan, as a proud Mayor, we learn so many things in this [past] year…and [we] missed being in spaces like this and having human contact” says Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti. Garcetti also stated that he is excited to have “newly top soccer city in America” host the All-Star festivities in August.
Commissioner Garber praised Arriola’s efforts in expressing awareness to their respective leagues. “We learned a lot from Liga MX…over the years we have worked together with [Liga MX] to see how we can bring our two leagues together in the most beneficial way possible”, says Garber. The Duo-League All-Star match will be added to the profound roster that MLS and Liga MX collaborate on, alongside the Campeones Cup and the Leagues Cup.
Also announced, Bob Bradley will be the head coach of the MLS All-Star team when they take on Mexico’s best, later this summer.
