MASL Giants Fury, Sockers face off Game One of a historic Ron Newman Cup Final
Playoff Leaders, JC Gonzalez (Most in Points) and Frank Tayou (Goals) lead the Fury against Hiram Ruiz and the Sockers in Game 1 of the Ron Newman Cup Final. Both rivals are a good two-hour drive from each other, which makes this arguably the most anticipated cup final in MASL History, but momentum is what both teams are playing for tonight.
Road to the newman cup: Ontario Fury
Fury Forward, Franck Tayou, is the man to watch in this weekend’s derby final. The League Goal Leader will do whatever it takes to bring the Ron Newman cup to Ontario and make the Fury MASL Champions for the first time in team history. Photo Credit: Ontario Fury via Twitter (@OntarioFury).
The Fury were heavy favorites to clinch a spot into the Ron Newman Cup Final since the beginning of the regular season, but doesn't mean they had an easy road to road. Despite a four game win streak leading into tonight’s game one, Ontario had a tough outing against the Kansas City Comets in the semis, with a double overtime in Game one, sealed by a Franck Tayou hat-trick. Kansas City were able to even it up in Game 2, but were not able to clean it up in the Series Mini-Game tiebreaker, as Franck’s brother, Uzi Tayou, puts in the game winner. With that clincher, the Ontario Fury host the Ron Newman Cup at their home in Toyota Arena, against the San Diego Sockers.
Game one of the Ron Newman Cup begins tonight at 7:05 PT and can be watched via a free live broadcast, brought to you by the MASL’s Official Broadcast Partner, SoccerSam Fantauzzo. CLICK HERE TO WATCH
