Expansion Draft Preview: What you need to know before tomorrow
It was an amazing final in Seattle between the Sounders and Toronto, however, with the end of the postseason comes the beginning of the off-season. This time of the year is as crucial as any other time as it gives teams, like LAFC, time to prepare for the next season. First things first, the Expansion Draft. Two new teams will be joining the MLS and playing in the Eastern Conference: Inter Miami FCC and Nashville SC, and just like LAFC when they began their Inaugural season, these clubs will participate in the Expansion Draft to help boost and bolster their rosters. What does this mean for the Black and Gold?

What is the Expansion draft and how does it work?
The Expansion Draft is a draft in which new teams joining the league gets the opportunity to get a head start on their roster and prepare for their inaugural season. In this case, this gives Inter Miami FC and Nashville SC the chance to take some players from other teams. The two clubs have made their first few acquisitions: Nashville has acquired Dave Romney from the Galaxy and Dax McCarty from Chicago, and as for Miami, they have acquired Defender Grant Lillard from Chicago and Midfielder Jay Chapman from Toronto via trades with the teams, giving them an extra boost before the Draft.

why is LAFC Involved?
Every team that has competed in the 2019 regular season is (except for a few exempt teams) and their rosters are in jeopardy. Each club must Protect only 12 Players from their Senior, Supplemental, and/or Reserves roster, the rest of the players that are unprotected will automatically be entered into the Expansion Draft.

The following players are safe from being selected by Miami or Nashville in tomorrow’s Expansion Draft:
Eduard Atuesta, Triston Blackmon, Latif Blessing, Adama Diomande, Mark Anthony-Kaye, Pablo Sisniega, Diego Palacios, Brian Rodriguez, Diego Rossi, Eddie Segura, Carlos Vela, and Walker Zimmerman
The rest are available for selection by Miami or Nashville:
